A journeyman electrician practice test built to your state's exam.
Generic practice tests rehearse an exam that does not exist. Your state decides the vendor, the question count, the clock, the code edition, and the passing rule. Pick your state below, take the free 15-minute test, and see exactly which NEC sections would cost you points on the exam you actually booked.

A different state?
These five have full state-specific banks today. More are being added based on demand.
See every stateThe exam is a state exam. The practice should be too.
Different testing vendors
PSI in one state, Pearson VUE in another, with different rules on what code book you can bring and how the screen works. Practice that ignores the vendor rehearses the wrong test day.
Different formats and clocks
One state runs two separately scored parts. Another runs one long exam. Time per question changes how you attack the code book, so your practice has to match the clock you will face.
Different code editions
States adopt NEC editions on their own schedule. Studying the wrong edition means learning rules that moved. Every question here is written to the edition your state tests.
Try a question before you pick a state.
Every question is original, cites the NEC section it comes from, and shows the full worked math. This one is a Texas scenario. The style is the same in every state.

Straight answers
Is the journeyman electrician practice test free?
Yes. Pick your state, answer 15 questions in about 15 minutes, and you get a topic-by-topic weakness map with the NEC sections to study first. No account and no card. Paid drills exist if you want them after you see where you stand.
Why does the practice test ask for my state?
Because the exams are different tests. Each state uses its own testing vendor, question count, timing, code edition, and passing rule. A generic 50-state quiz rehearses an exam that does not exist. The 15-minute test here pulls from the question pool built for your state's exam outline.
Are these real exam questions?
No, and be careful with any site claiming otherwise. Exam vendors treat their questions as protected content. Every question here is original, written to a specific NEC article and cited to it, with the full worked math shown. You learn the pattern the exam tests, not a leaked answer key.
What if my state is not listed?
Texas, California, Michigan, Washington, and Maryland have full state-specific banks today. Other states are being added based on demand. The states page lists what is live and what is next.
How many questions should a real practice test have?
Start with a short diagnostic, not a 500-question grind. 15 targeted questions tell you which sections are weak. After that, practice only makes sense in your weak sections, with the code book open, against a clock. That is what the paid drills do.
