What a California practice test has to cover
The General Electrician outline is lopsided. Installation is the biggest section by far, with calculations second. A balanced quiz can make you feel ready while avoiding the two areas that decide the score.
- Installation: about 66% of the exam.
- Determination of Electrical System Requirements: about 22% of the exam.
- Safety: about 6% of the exam.
- Maintenance and Repair: about 6% of the exam.
The practice-test trap
Most guys search for a giant bank of questions. That sounds right. The better move is a diagnostic first. If grounding is solid and motor calculations are bleeding points, 200 more random questions waste time. You need the weak area first.

- Run the diagnostic across the California domains.
- Show the low domains and the rule families behind the misses.
