Failed the Michigan journeyman exam?
It happens to good electricians. The exam is open book and fast, and most people who fail did not run out of knowledge, they ran out of time. The good news is that a near miss is fixable, and you already know more than you think.
Know the retake rules
Two attempts allowed within one year of eligibility. Fail twice inside a two-year period and you must wait one year from the second failure before testing again.
Read the score report like a job
Your report tells you which areas sank you. Do not re-study everything. Pull the two weakest areas and put your hours there. That is where the points are hiding.
Fix lookup speed, not just knowledge
If you knew the answers but ran out of time, the problem is navigation. Tab your 2023 NEC and drill landing on the right article fast. Open book only helps if you are fast.
Find the two chapters that cost you
The free 15-minute diagnostic ranks your weakest NEC chapters so your retake prep targets the exact spots you missed, instead of starting over from scratch.
