How to schedule the California General Electrician exam
The scheduling process changed in 2026 and most of the web has not caught up. Here is the current path so you do not follow stale PSI instructions.

The steps
- Meet the experience requirement and apply to DIR to test.
- Get DIR approval (eligibility) to schedule.
- Schedule your seat through Pearson VUE under CPS HR Consulting.
- Book the closest available test center early, especially in busy metros.
Before you book a date
